Position Description:
- Writes technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions.
- Plans, coordinates, revises, and edits written material in digital formats such as XML, HTML, and PDF.
- Reviews drafts for possible publication.
- Assists in layout work.
- Works closely with Product Developers (PDs) to create and update working, draft and final versions of flight clearance (FC) products.
- Edits existing electronic-based media and converts hard-copy manuals into electronic-based media. Posts approved products on the US Navy and Marine Corps Airworthiness and CYBERSAFE website for user access.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers, software, and websites, and in the use of industry-standard editing tools to produce FC or similarly formatted products. Must be proficient in XML editing and publishing using the Arbortext software suite, as well as proficient in HTML, Word, and PDF editing tools.
- Fully empowered by Airworthiness CYBERSAFE Office (ACO).
- Must complete the ACO-specific Airworthiness formal training requirements to maintain empowerment including the All-Day Process and Procedures class and Flight Clearance Process Training (offered by ACO).
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding of Airworthiness enterprise tools.
- Maintains proficiency with ePower, the Airworthiness website, the eFC website, and editorial tools.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Airworthiness Processes and Procedures to affect product outcomes.
- Participates in process and product improvement efforts.
- Manages configuration control of documents per SWP and Type/Model/Series (T/M/S) Configuration Control document requirements.
- Manages quality control of work products relative to governing style guides.
- Maintains product library and archives.
- Serves as a skill coach to oversee development activities of a Level 1 Editor-In-Training to include the development of their proficiency utilizing the Airworthiness enterprise and editorial tools. (Reference Standard Skill Package 006 (SSP-ACO-006) for additional details.)
Education:
- High School diploma or GED.
Minimum Required Experience:
- At least three (3) years of recent and relevant experience required.
Clearance:
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance.
