IPT 08-28 Software Engineer (Junior or Mid-Level) - St. Inigoes, MD
IPT Corp seeks a creative, out-of-the-box thinker to work in a rapid development environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers who design, develop, evaluate, test, verify, validate, and provide in-service engineering support for the Navy's Aircraft Launch and Recovery system. This position may require travel in support of system product installation, system operation verification and testing, and certification.

This position may require travel in support of system product installation, system operation verification and testing, and certification.
Responsibilities include:
- Display display knowledge of C++ programming on Red Hat Linux Enterprise environment and use of GNU compiler and debugger in troubleshooting, debugging of codes, and problem-solving.
- Use modern design and development and software configuration management (SCM) to perform software validation testing, including unit testing, integration testing and system testing.
- Analyze and effectively communicate test results, detect issues, and track root causes, apply knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), demonstrate knowledge of quality standards and regulations, have good technical documentation skills, and be a team player.
- Possess good systems engineering fundamental skills necessary for the success of every project we develop for the customer.
- Create and develop advanced technology capabilities in the areas of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and quality processes critical to defense work.
- Specific responsibilities will include analyzing product specifications and requirements, developing software programs and scripts, developing test cases for all mechanical, electrical, and software systems, working closely with engineers and production team to learn the ins and outs of a product, running series of software test through all stages of production cycle to identify potential malfunctions and recommended improvements, and developing the necessary technical documentations required for the product; and will learn to network and collaborate with the rest of the engineering and production team.
Education: BS degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
Required Experience:
- Ability to obtain / maintain the required security clearance
- Knowledgeable in C++ programming using RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.5 and above
- Basic understanding of Software Validation and Testing
- Knowledge of GIT repository for software version control system
- Ability to learn new skills and tasks
- Attentive to detail, ability to stay focused on task
- Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to the problems identified
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent skills in Math, Physics, and Computer Programming essential in developing test vectors
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.)
- Team player with a proactive attitude, the ability to be productive in a dynamic / collaborative environment (e.g., open seating arrangement)
Minimum Experience:
- 0 - 5 years of related software development experience
Preferred Experience/Knowledge:
- MIL-STD-498 Requirements for Software Development and Documentation (ability to learn)
- US Navy's Air Traffic Control & Landing Systems
- MATLAB and Python (optional)
- RedHawk Linux RTOS
- Strong math skills
- Strong technical documentation skills
