- Support the Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATC&LS) Division Chief Engineer at the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC) Webster Outlying Field (WOLF). Perform research, design, development, or test of the installation and integration of electronic components and systems for various Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems. Employ knowledge of electronic theory supports improvement of radar, landing systems, and control systems for Precision Approach and Landing System (PALS) and Navy/Marine Corps ATC and related equipment.
- Hybrid work schedule to include on-site and telework with Compressed Work Schedule (CWS).
- Position includes the following responsibilities and duties:
- Ability to critique engineering packages
- Ability to review and provide comments to draft Engineering Change Proposals (ECP) with focus on the following:
- Grammar/accuracy
- Schedule/Work Breakdown/Cost/Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) review
- Acquisition Strategy
- Ability to review and provide comments to Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) type documentation with focus on the following:
- Compliance to/Tailoring of appropriate checklist(s) utilizing legacy tools and the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Integrated Systems Engineering Environment (ISSE) - Information Technology/Cybersecurity (navy.mil)
- Ensure associated artifacts are adequately archived
- Action items/Requests for Information appropriately tracked and addressed
- Ability to review and comment on Departure from Spec Information
- Ability to participate in meetings with embedded product engineers from the Division at the Program Office
- Ability to support Root Cause Analysis efforts
- Ability to maintain a Division-level Systems Engineering calendar
- Ability to support and critique risk management and mitigation
- Ability to ensure processes/work is aligned with Configuration Management requirements
- Ability to critique Standard Work Packages
- Make suggestions for training courses that will benefit the workforce
- Ability to utilize Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools
- Ability to adapt to new and evolving requirements
Education:
- Journeyman Level: BA or BS degree in Mathematics, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics
- Senior Level: MS or MA in Mathematics, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics
- ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION FOR SENIOR LEVEL: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics plus three (3) years of work experience in addition to the work experience described in the labor category may be substituted for a Master’s degree
Minimum Experience:
- Journeyman Level: At least three (3) years of experience. One (1) year of the required experience shall be in engineering, test, evaluation, design, or improvement of radar, landing, or control systems.
- Senior Level: At least ten (10) years of experience in engineering. Three (3) to five (5) years of this experience shall be with PALS and/or Navy/Marine Corps ATC equipment.
Clearance: US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance.
